While building strength and muscle are two sides to the same coin, there is some difference in their approach and methodology.
If you're new to strength training, you'll build both for a while, but as you progress you may come to the fork in the road where you may want to focus on one or the other.
Knowing the difference is important because it's easy to get caught up in chasing either muscle or strength while using programs geared towards the other. This can cause a lot of frustration as you spend a lot of time and energy making most of your gains towards a goal that isn't your primary goal.
